Overtime

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

When I worked by the hour I always liked overtime. Time and a Half was great and since I can do the math my money started to build faster. But, as you get older in this game you realize that overtime cost to much when it comes to your regular time. I’ve been around kats who are happy they can get overtime and start to add those chips into their regular mix. I’ve also been around kats who can’t do their job in 8 hours and are alway staying behind to finish up. But, in actuality OVER-TIME just shows you went over the time most cats can do the job.

When you get to your first Managerial level gig you’ll see that some people feel it’s necessary to stay over the time of 5pm everyday. They know they don’t have shit to do but they want to keep showing people (OVERSEER) they are giving more to the company. Now ME, ya boy; I’m out that mawfvcker like BIG BEN with those church bells. I ain’t falling for that Sucker shit of staying around 30 minutes to show NOBODIES I’m dedicated! I’m dedicated to making my money and all this work peer pressure shit is stupid.

You’ll find other Suckers telling you they are more dedicated. Shit I even had one Slave tell me the real Employees of Plantation 11 North Corridor stay extra hours. I laughed in that Slaves face and said keep it real then! See the game here is they are paying you more so it’s natural to a Slave Mind to work more. Now mind you most kats at the upper levels don’t get OVERTIME as they are EXEMPT. So they stay not really out of being 100 they actually stay out of the OVERSEER firing them and leaving them with ZERO!

In this game your time is the most important so if you aren’t getting paid money for it then don’t even play that game. But, I warn you so many Slaves follow this way of thinking they’ll start plotting and shitting and dry snitching and outright telling the OVERSEER you aren’t a good slave. Bruh, it’ll get so bad that the slaves will start putting shit on your desk at 4:59 saying it’s urgent. So when you play this game make sure you  are using this as gig as a stepping stone.

It’s your life and if you feel time and half is better than you chilling then so be it. But, once they think they are paying you to work 10 hours a day and that’s just included beware of what the defeated call overtime. They are either stupid or brainwashed or maybe just both!

My day job is for a well-known plantation. It’s one of those plantations Freeman mentioned in one of his podcasts. Anyways, I remember one of the old slaves telling me a joke one day.

You know what we call an employee who puts in 40 hours a week?

    Unemployed

I’m glad I got out of that slave mentality. I’m still a slave but Is got my eyes on freedom lol. No 45 plus weeks for TW. I’m good with the 40 suckers

@Jay B – Bruh, it’s a culture in a lot of places as people are scared they will be fired. They got the slaves competing against each other over who looks like a hard worker.

Bruh I go through it right now. But, I come in early and leave early so people might be shocked but the cat I’m contracting with know what’s up. But, don’t get me wrong they all get mad and start dry snitching when I walk out.

But, I always got another angle going so when this one dries up we til the land to cultivate the next. Keep Building!

@TW – Truth be told you have to choose one thing. Are you going to live your life or the life others get handed to them? So I’m well aware of the corporate culture but truthfully I know I ain’t going to be rich doing this shit. So me putting more time into what keeps the lights on instead of me owning the electric company is a backwards ass hustle.

I’ve been unemployed for damn near 10 years now and I like it. Instead of the slave thinking how will they make I took my chance and made it. So keep your eyes on the prize and get make that plan to get yourself off the plantation. Over the fence and through the woods and don’t forget to Wade in the Water! LOL

Freeman, update live from a career fair. So i am out east for a sales career fair and i had some interviews set up etc…

but i was talking to one cat who interviewed me and he basically told me i had to pay my dues and that a previous company i worked for briefly (6 months) was a great company. and that maybe i should go back to that company so i can use it as a launching pad to the company he works for. what i told him was that previous company business model is outdated and what i wanted to say is dude that one company paid me 25K a year. no way.

like my father used to say ‘I am not going to sell out but you can rent me’ and since i am still on a plantation i am going to the highest bidder who pays more

Bruh, you got the right mentality as it’s better to be rented as that’s mutual than what these slaves have in mind when they are on the ho stroll waiting for a trick!

We in this game to make money, all the money and nothing but the money. When you come to a workable deal you execute but when a OverSeer starts talking about paying dues and waiting in line at the cafeteria for green marshmallow jello then you know you got to go.

Shit, bruh if you follow the R&G you know sometimes I got a gig then I’m out. Then I’m back at a new one then I’m out. Everyone thinks FreeMan should be happy to have a job but truth be told FreeMan just got some extra cash to work on the next project.

Keep doing what you’re doing and quietly but masterfully playing the game. Take what you can from them and apply it to yourself and the next plantation until you got what you need to start your own.
