We’re Family
Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes
Since I’m at a new plantation you didn’t think the stories from the upper fields would stop did you? Now this place isn’t half as bad that’s why I have nothing to report but yesterday I heard something that made me think this mawfvcker is lost. There are some who til the land and others who think We Sick! Well this is a We Sick Boss moment and I couldn’t let it pass without breaking bread.
Now I’m in a competitive field primarily dealing with money. Money is talked about all of the time the way some cats ask how your weekend went. So needless to say when someone on the plantation gets money for the plantation they are rewarded like you are worth more now. So this woman today got a client and of course the overseer was happy for her. Then she turned around and said “I don’t mind because we’re family!” Now me I stopped with my head being down waiting for the day to be over to pop up with a surprising look. I’m thinking you dumb slave you brought probably 10k to the business and you’re 30k ass ain’t going to see none of it.
Where does this kind of thinking come from? We’re family must be in the Willie Lynch letter somewhere to make slaves feel comfortable. I thought for a second what are they doing for you to make you feel that these devils are family. I know what my family is and these devils I’m around ain’t family for sure. Now they are there and they are cordial but they aren’t family. So as this woman sat back down I thought to myself I got to get out of here. I need to find a product like crack that’s legal and push that shit until they catch me.
We’re family! Man I know some cats are brainwashed but this woman right here got her brain scrubbed out of her fvcking head. What part of your family makes you work without seeing the money? What part of your family docks you pay if you’re late? What part of your family makes you ask for days off on some bullshit schedule like you leaving will fvck up everything? What part of your family reviews your work only to find fault everyday in your performance so you won’t get a raise? Damn they don’t even feed your slave ass!
So that’s all I got to say about that. Again, your Brother FreeMan reporting live from the upper fields of the north plantation where the sun meets the sky and weak minded motherfvckers go to die! (I GOT TO GET OUT OF HERE!)

I never thought about it like that. They do try not to give you a raise and make you work as hard as possible.
Well techincally work is a lot like family, you owe me this, I don’t like her, she is a ho, blah blah blah. The sad part about this is you can tell she came from a bad tribe. I had a friend that was ultra religious, and it drove me nuts. Then this friend went back home to live with her family and to help her sick father, her family (tribe) made fun of her and treated her like dirt. The final straw right after her father passed she and her brother got into it about some petty crap and he nearly choked the life right out of her. She got out with a quickness, but it explained why she held onto religion. Her original tribe rejected her and even some religious folks treat her like dirt most accept her. If you were to see your co-workers life outside of work you would probably see her life is not that great. So she has now latched onto a new tribe/family in you job. It is a sad day of lost and confusion for her.
Brainwashing, Stockholm Syndrome, brown-nosing (supposed) tactics? I dunno why anybody does that except for either they really believe they love massah or they stupidly think their going to see a rise in pecking order. Those are the kind of lame answers you never utter again after the interview because by that point you already have the job!
@JB – It’s all a ploy to make you forget that you ain’t making money. So instead they say we are family because you’ll sacrifice for family. You’ll take a backseat to family. You’ll even work for no damn reason for family!
They ain’t family they got a con going and they try to make you feel like it’s good to be conned!
@TK – Damn TK you did some psychoanalysis on this post! You’re probably right as she seems like all the friends she has is in that building. I can’t knock her I just was shocked by the response to money. I can’t be around money talk without thinking where’s mine!
@Miles – That brainwashing got Suckers believing they want a great place to work. That’s like the bank saying they just want to help people. The difference is one is about money and the other is about some bullshit.
Saying we are family makes one remain passive and not want to quit. Same reason why, in the entertainment field, you see groups and independent record labels claim its all family and love until they blow up, get money, then its every MF for theyself!!!
I view it the same way as when I need work done and someone hits me with the “I am a Christian” line. Like that’s going to fix my sink or car.
Well this lady really believed it. She smiled and everyone kind of patted her on the back like a fvcking puppy. I knew at that moment the plantation was worse than even I imagined.
Money will make cats greedy. Even those of us who aren’t have to guard against the greedy. So whenever millions are on the line everyone wants help getting there but no one wants help spending it.
The I AM CHRISTIAN thing only works to the cats who really believe. Otherwise it’s just a give me money because you have to according to your GOD angle.
Oh I would love to take credit for going psycho, but I can’t it’s been done before. On my last plantation I really didn’t give a fvck and the other slaves knew it, but couldn’t figure out why and it drove them crazy. But I had my own life everything from thinking up businesses, to taking classes, to saving some money so me and a friend once every 2 mos can go have a fancy expensive lunch! The witches who made the most trouble usually only had the plantation and family drama and not much more. So they held onto the plantation like there was no tomorrow, because they didn’t want to be around their family 24/7, work was their escape their tribe if you will.
Yes I will! LOL @ their tribe! Never quite thought of it that way as that was a life away from a more horrible life. And, here I am thinking the plantation life is awful and they are enjoying it. Making a new home in it and even seeing these new people as family.
I got a lot to learn about plantation politics.
R&G. With all this knowledge that you have, why aren’t you self employed man?
Derrek – Welcome – To be honest I am in between the next business so instead of lying to everyone on the R&G I try to tell the truth. So I am working and working on the next business.
But, the knowledge comes from over a decade of having my own business. This chapter right now is just the transition between the next decade of hustle.
People are getting in trouble with these new wave of business/sales books. Everything is about “feelings”, “tribes”, “social entrepreneurship” and “emotions”…people are afraid to talk about MONEY. I would never refer to the devil as family.
Well they have to come up with a philosophy to keep you from thinking. As long as you are chasing cheese or some other bootleg theory of the month the Suckers apply.
The business is here to make money at it’s core. Unlike every place else they disguise calling it entertainment. But, where everyone goes to work there’s no doubt they are there to make chips.
So the idea of family is just ignorant. If you see invoices going out and checks being cut homie it’s a business!
@Derek – If you’re not making money – you’re spending money.
The best way to save and build between businesses is to take a job so that one does not get out of Hustle Shape. I own a nightclub and a construction company but I sometimes take consulting jobs between jobs so that I don’t get too relaxed thinking that I’ve “made it”.
