Water Plants – Start Up
Reading time: 3 – 5 minutes
Start up OR Quick Hustle? Either way depending on how you see this angle it’ll make you some money. In places like Manhattan or any other condo area people have plants on their balconies but really don’t know how to take care of them You could go at this angle primarily as a House Plant Specialists that can come in and make sure their in house garden is as beautiful as other folks outdoor gardens. I know some of you are laughing at the idea of this but if I was a teenager I know this would definitely put some money in my pocket. For those of you who don’t really got that outdoor knack to push products this one is personal so if people naturally like you this will get you in their door.
Indoor plants in malls, office buildings and multifamily residential complexes need regular watering since many of these do not have automatic watering systems. Plants used temporarily for conventions, shows and events also get thirsty and need someone to check their moisture daily. Different types of plants have various water requirements so someone who waters them needs to be able to identify plants and learn their water needs. People who like plants and working with plants are prime candidates for handling this important work. Dependability is another necessary attribute for employees who water plant.
- Assess your skills. People who have worked for landscapers, property maintenance companies and janitorial services will already have the basic skill set, and experience needed for this kind of work. Those without this experience might consider taking some evening courses on plant care at local technical schools and colleges. Sign up for the local Master Gardeners program and complete the training. Check into intern opportunities at local greenhouses and nurseries. Check out some plant care books at the local library and study them.
- Ask friends, relatives and acquaintances if they need any plant watering done. Ask if they know of someone who does. Ask acquaintances who may be going on vacation if they need any plants watered while they are gone. If you are just learning about plant care consider doing this work for free so you can gain experience. Ask them to serve as future references.
-
Look in the local newspaper for help wanted ads. Also check online help wanted ads such as those posted on the Craigslist website
-
Contact local property management companies to see if they need someone to water plants.
-
Solicit Realtors who manage properties for developers. New construction sites will be more successful in attracting buyers if they have nice landscaping.
-
Check with event planners to see if they are scheduling events where plants will need some care and watering.
I remember seeing a lady do this in the building I stayed in when I lived in Manhattan. I thought it was a stupid ass job too but life can’t get any simpler than walking around watering other people’s plants. If you do some basic research on the majority of houseplants and keep a couple of those plant nutrition spikes in your utility belt you’ll make money using their own tap water. Of course it’s not all that simple as you are walking in other folks houses but once you’re in there you’re just pouring cups of water on dirt!
Extra: Make sure you have some special equipment so it looks like you take your job seriously. Anyone can water some damn plants but you have to give them the impression that you have greenthumbs. A little education on plants, a safari outfit with a green polo and some simple flyers explaining how you can turn their patio or deck into a indoor garden will get you some money! Think about it!

LOL! You mean no one wants to talk about the big money in watering plants?
I remember seeing people here in the corporate office watering the plants. I did not know that you can get paid for that. If that’s the case then i’m going to start a “Taking out the trash can business for pick up the next day” lol
I’m surprised people didn’t notice in the picture the way that woman is staring at the guy watering plants. She has those enchanted eyes as he’s a sex symbol! I bet in the player handbook watering plants wasn’t listed as a turn on!
Exactly! I remember seeing people do that too and I guess it’s a business we all sitting on the plantation thought was beyond stupid. If your pick up the trash thing ever takes off let me know as I would love to take the odd floors and you take the even and we can make some dough!
Damn, this one blew me away. Simple, low cost/maintenance, and it drives the ladies wild, lol.
An angle is an angle,I think any
thing is better then a plantation!
@Reader – Watering plant is just like a woman selling soap in a shower homie! Makes you wonder what’s going on. LOL
@Kozi – Agreed! Until we get to the top we got to take every step even the ones that seem insignificant.
