Crime scene technicians will collect the necessary evidence from a crime scene, but call in a crime scene cleanup person to get rid of the dirty work. Common cleanup scenes involve methamphetamine labs and violent death. People who have a queasy stomach or are easy to upset are not suited for this line of work.
- Complete a crime scene certificate program. Going through a crime scene program will allow students to receive a certificate for completing courses and provide training for taking the test to receive a license. A crime scene license is not a requirement in all states, but a recommendation to prevent losing any job opportunities. Courses are available through community colleges, online programs and technical colleges. Students who attend a crime scene cleaning program will learn techniques for cleaning different body fluids, removing the smell of death, cleaning up after a fire and dealing with hazardous chemicals. Crime scene certificate programs usually cover the necessary skills for becoming a cleanup person.
- Invest in quality equipment for cleaning a scene. Crime scene cleaners will need equipment including carpet stain removers, masks, steam cleaners, high-powered exhaust fans and powerful chemical cleaners. You want to invest in quality equipment because you’ll have to clean numerous locations

Great way to Capitalize off a (possibly) declining economy where murders, suicides and other violent crimes typically rise.
Well my old saying was be in a business where people eat or shit but now I have to throw in die! I’m sure there is a need for crime scene cleaners all over the country. It’s definitely recession proof.
Crime Scene Cleaners and Morticians will always be in demand since people are always dying everyday. One cleans up the scene, the other cleans up the body for the viewing. I dont think i could do that too psychologically draining.
If you ever smelled a dead body it’s a wake up call like smelling salts. So it takes a special person for sure. But, I’m sure it’s a good skill to have and it pays well. The fact that most people don’t want to do it lets me know there’s money in there.
Wow! Freeman you stay dropping jewels! I’m definitely looking into this to maybe add on to what I’m already doing!
Peace!
There’s a lot we could be doing in the meantime while building our empire. The more niche the field is the more steady your dough will be. These recession proof jobs to me just represent the things that have to be done in life so a constant check is good. Plus if you have the skill you can move on and that’s a form of freedom while still working the plantation.
