Remain Independent

As you progress in life you’ll see that some people have banned together to lock out other folks. This might be a bunch of realtors who control a certain area of the city. This might be a race of people who control beauty supplies. This might be a fraternity or a sorority that dominate the teaching profession. They only have their power because the people under them beg to get in to their click. But, they really don’t have any power because they are in charge of either the government disbursing something or no one has come to town with a different experience. When you face a situation like this you have to remain independent of all of them and build despite them. Only to the locals do they think they are powerful but if you look around you’ll see everyone else who is not on their team seems to get things done despite them.
I face gatekeepers all the time but when it comes to most of them they just have a damn job. In my business I sometimes run into officers who are used to punking everyone and forcing people to deal with their attitude. But, I know and have said to them who is going to fire me over the phone. They stop and I tell them if you want a war let’s go to war but you have a job and I run a business so again who will fire me. Sometimes they get caught up in the place they have on the plantation and you have to check them. In another situation you run into people who are colluding behind the scenes to lock a certain area down. But, the way you beat them is to go and get the license they have so you can deal directly with the government. Now if you listen to the Suckers who live there they’ll mention that you should pay them off or that’s the way it works around here.
But, again look around. Does the cat who is Pakistani worry about greasing the hand of some local cat or does he set up shop. What about the chinese cats do you think they go to the mayors office before building their empire? Nahhh they remain independent of all the shit that is going on in that city and just open up shop. I learned this lesson from watching all the other groups who conduct business in a city. I have been lucky to be around those cats in my business and they’ll make a million bucks right under you fvcking nose and go back to their neighborhood and sit down. They never joined any groups or tried to fit in and they never even commented on what the fvck was going on. While the suckers were fighting for crumbs they were building bakeries.
In every city at every big event there are usually three kinds of people. So using Vegas for an example there’s the cats with no money parking lot pimping, there’s the wannabe high rollers who have enough money for tonight and there’s the cats who go to see the shows and really stay in the presidential suite. Most Suckers only see the bottom two and think that’s life. But, the cats who are independent of all the Sucker shit enjoy another kind of life. In essence they are not part of the hoopla that is going on and they get to enjoy life and all the amenities Sucker free.
If you want to be part of something you’ll have to abide by the rules of the cats who run that game. If you want to build something of your own you have to remain independent of all the Sucker shit and people who claim to have power. Remember this whenever you feel trapped in your business as its probably the result of you being part of anothers mans game. Did the Chinese, Pakistani, Korean cat go through the same gatekeepers you did? You can learn a lot from the groups that can never be part of the masses as they show you the way to remain independent and build!

i see this constantly with my day to day 9-5 gig. Especially in the corner store hustle. A lot of these store owners are selling items that have at min. 40% margins. some things even higher. this game is all about information and remaining low key. no need for everyone to know you are a business owner unless you are trying to do business. great points freeman
A lot of people want to be noticed and as such they go and join some local fvck ass group of people who are supposed to help them. When they get there the Suckers tell them who is the gatekeeper and to go and beg them for your blessing. Now you are beholden to that man forever because your dumb ass feels he let you in. But, if you look around the other races are conducting business in the same area and I’m sure they didn’t ask Revered PopeJoy for his blessing.
There is always another way but people don’t want to take that road. It might be harder and it might be longer but it’s yours. That’s why the other races are so secretive not because they want to hide it from you but because they carved their own lane so why would they share it to make you better?
Sometimes its a hard and lonely road to independence. But I don’t mind because the rewards are much greater so, in the end, instead of being underneath someone you can look them eye to eye.

Yep i always tell myself if there not a customer or potential customer they do not need to know how im stacking.
Your post comes at the right time. I’ve been having some thoughts about this like crazy. From my 6 months spent dealing with low level employees in different industries I usually see a lot of gatekeepers making attempts to manufacture fake professional beefs with me in order to make their gatekeeping/blackballing methods look like it’s not hating. You are right – I don’t like gatekeepers especially when they not playing the power broke role right. I have no problem with breaking off someone for putting me on as long as that have a lazie-faire mentality and act accordingly.

@Keish – You can participate in regular life like everyone else it’s just you want to protect the way you make your money. The average Sucker looks outside of theirselves for a hook up so they automatically set up someone else to pretty much run and control the way they live.
@Nicki – You got to shake off the fleas and leeches in this game. You can’t knock them for wanting to have the cat who produces on their team. The more cats in your hustle the more ghosts come in there. All of a sudden their beefs become yours and also their ways of making it become yours. Then all of a sudden you realize you are behind a idiot who made a deal with another idiot to use you to make money for them. We all wake up someday and when we do we should tiptoe out of the room to let the other cats stay sleep.
@PY – This is always why I say make deals and go home. When you try to be part of a group of cats who think they control a industry you end up getting ousted from cats who have no real power. There’s always another way but most cats get caught up believing they have to be part of something in order to make money. Ignore them all and build as they don’t really run anything. We have to learn to look a bit bigger as other groups are making money right next to us.
What about the ‘power in numbers’ mantra we have always heard
I know this is off topic but I had to post this. I was listening to the “what it look like” podcast and I decided to look up for some of those companies myself. And most of those companies verizon. visa. say that these are public corporations owned by shareholders. Thats almost like saying I own microsoft b/c I have stock.
Also I was looking at an ariticle for verizon and it said that it bought altel for 27.5 billion. I was wondering if bill gates could have bought that himself. that would have been half of his reported net worth. so who is this guy/family that could have spent that much money.
I know a fact they are hiding behind their shareholders and has the final say in what the company bought.
Im probably late on that one but it got me thinking.
I make music on the side. after I get it mastered Im thinking about trying to get it in the stores and sell it myself. I rather make 50k trying to sell it myself than make100k while some dude I never met make a mill off of it. the game at fair. so I aint plaing it.
@Roy – There is power in numbers.. the more numbers you have before the decimal place the more power you have! Bringing people together is a problem especially when it comes to money. So it’s best to always be your own man with your own things so you can use people as a vendor. There’s no need to get together artificially… if there is something worth coming together for it won’t be hard to get the people.
@Anubis – There has to be someone who took the company public and kept the majority of shares. Think about Facebook when it goes public. People will have shares but that Zuckerberg cat is the majority owner. Since the companies you and I look at are old then who knows whose the guy behind that thing. The shareholders are just a front as you say to make Suckers believe no one really owns the company.
You always have to weight what you want at each point in life. If you want money you sell things if you want power you hold things. If you owned Michael Jacksons catalog of songs you would be paid for maybe 3 generations. We just have to know when to hold them and when to sell them.
My only question is when I build my empire will I be the one to touch millions; billions.
Or will it be my son or his sons. I am thinking this is a generational thing. I thinkg
few families touch billions the first gen. even though some make it. probably 1%
The 1% that every one complains about
Alot of these people on t.v are first generation rich kids and if they keep tricking
they will spend themselves out of wealth.
Even if all you did was buy 5 rentals houses and rent them out you’ll be better than most. 5K x12 = 60K. That’s more than what most people will ever make going to college and working on the plantation.
It’s not as hard as you think. What product or service can you push that will be bought or used by 1million people. So if you made soap, toothpaste, socks, irons, light bulbs, bread it will happen. Somethings are guaranteed just by the nature of the product itself.
Millions to Billions is a matter of taking that same product and getting it out to more and more people. Putting your money from the millions back inside the business is what makes the billions. So will you be smart enough to do it yourself or will your son because he sees the future and you are stuck on survival?
Man this post is nothing but a bunch of shotgun shells scattered across the ground!!!! I remember when my homeboy and I was discussing business moves and he gave me that ” well you know you gots to be careful becuase the Mexican Mafia got all this ish on lock and it gonna be hard for us etc:” Im just the type of person who ignores scare tactics because no one can tell me I can’t do shit! Even if someone was to step to you like that on a non-business level, only thing I can do is be prepared.
If you all listen to 2pac’s song Definition of a thug N^^^^ on the beginning a black women is saying”Nobody is running me out my business” if she can say that as a proud and strong women, I will say that as a strong male!
My thing is why would these powerful people fvck with your small time ass in the beginning of your hustle? It doesn’t make sense to even worry about it because if you were on top you wouldn’t worry about some cat starting his angle up either. If he becomes powerful you have to deal with the cat but since that’s rare why worry about ghosts.
In our community we always think we have to fight folks. But, we don’t and no one really cares. No one is stopping our folks from doing the small things. Now when we ask for loans or to be put on to them then we have to deal with racism and the like. But, regular shit that everyone else is doing on the daily all around you right now… is drama free!
The “networking” hustle is the same as the credit hustle. They sell nooB’s on prestige or financing possibilities but it only leads to a powerless slave situation. Most people propel themselves in the heat for no reason.
The immigrants who come here and hustle don’t have an Elks Star Masonic Shiner’s Alpha Rho Community Development Church of Negro’s Improvement and Development Association Order of Economic BrownNoser’s , Inc. to blend into and waste time with. You hustle extra hard or go back home!
Great series Freeman…Its clear that you are in the “Build” mode. You are laying out the blueprint for anyone out here to get it!! We just have to go for it! The first thing we need to realize is that when going for yours, you’ll probably be alone. No one can see or sell your vision the way you can. So the quicker we accept that, the sooner everything else will fall into place or you can go back to your desk job. LOL. Then, being quiet! The “breakthrough” causes us to be very excited and want to indiscriminately tell our friends, family etc about the hustle. I’ve been naive a time or two, thinking that people weren’t going to be people. But “Success breeds envy.” Especially within a group of suckers! Add to that an ineffective “leader” who is just following the lead of another man, and you can have real trouble on your hands. But being quiet and peaceable about your hustle usually allows you to sidestep all this and give you an insight into how people really are.
For me, being truly independent has allowed me to get with everybody (average life.. being polite, going out once every few months with the chick at work for drinks, going to the shop to get my hair done, etc) but nobody at the same time (taking weekend trips by myself, crashing events – getting in without static off the strength of being well-dressed and solo, making productive connections).
Dang Freeman, you killin’ us with this knowledge! Timing is everything and I reallllly needed to have these messages reiterated right now. I get it and I can’t wait to see whats next!

@Opitmus – The immigrant mentality is the way for quiet success. Their whole life and how they initially build everyone ignores on a daily basis. They don’t have the gatekeeper groups and they never ever ever give you the impression they are really making money. They got the game on lock. Now their flaw is they never build a empire but they sure do have step 1 in this game on lock. It’s a beautiful execution to watch.
@Peace – Hopefully you’ll enjoy the bay as Frisco is built of a lot of small neighborhoods that have a lot to offer. I’m usually between Frisco, Oakland, San Jose and Vallejo whenever I’m there. It’s just a change of pace. Sometimes you come to a city and it has no identity but the bay is definitely a different experience. But, it’s always rainy out there so that fvcks me up personally.
Peace you got the blueprint for sure. I always find it funny that people find it so hard to be disciplined to it. The main reason I say it in that way is to prevent the average cat from being disappointed and sidetracked. All these emotions on the way to your empire will just slow you down. You can tell the whole world how you did it once you do it but telling them on the way just breeds envy.
Once you master it it’s like being invisible. Since most folks are looking for money to look a certain way you can get into anywhere simply by adjusting your wardrobe. The real issue most cats can’t get over is they want to be noticed when they come in. A lot of Suckers think if they can’t see that I have money they don’t feel good about having it period.
