Christmas Tree – Start up

Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes

Many families buy real Christmas trees each year. In places without Christmas tree farms, hardware stores and supermarkets offer real trees at inexpensive prices. In order to make money when these stores are selling cheaper trees, you must provide high quality trees, such as those purchased from a Christmas tree farm. High school bands, scout troops and other groups use Christmas tree sales as fundraisers while many individuals use Christmas tree sales as an avenue for end-of-the-year income.

  • Find a location for your Christmas tree stand. Contact area churches and stores to inquire about renting a portion of their lawn area
  • Contact tree farms in your state. Ask about bulk pricing on trees for a variety of sizing. Compare the prices of multiple farms if possible and contract with the one that charges the least for the trees, including delivery.
  • Determine the size of your tree stand based on available space and the number and size of the Christmas trees you are selling. If you only have a small space, ask the tree farm if they will make a second delivery should you sell out of trees.
  • Erect your Christmas tree stand using 10-foot-tall chain-link fencing. Chain-link fencing can be locked closed with a gate, which will protect your trees from theft at night. Secure a tarp with rope across the top of the structure to keep rain and snow off your trees and customers.
  • Install three or four six-foot 4-by-4 posts into the ground in a row to create a center aisle in the middle of your stand. Nail a 2-by-4 board horizontally to each set of two 4-by-4s near the top of the 4-by-4 to make a place to lean trees against.
  • Separate the trees by type and size. Use signs to inform customers of the type and size of the trees in each area of your stand.
  • Display prices near the entrance to your Christmas tree stand. The prices should be high enough to turn a profit, but still low enough to be competitive with other independent tree stands.
  • Put an advertisement in your local newspaper and post signs throughout the neighborhood to attract customers.
  • Slash prices on your Christmas trees during the final days before Christmas. This will help you sell off as many trees as possible. Consider donating your leftover trees to needy families on Christmas eve. Donating the leftovers will also keep you from paying for disposal of the trees.

This is a stick and move kind of seasonal start up. I am sure there are vacant lots all over the place this year for you to set up shop and do this for yourself. If they will deliver the trees to you and all you have to do is rent the chain link fence you will be good. I could’ve put up the same thing with the pumpkins for Halloween but that shit spoils and the trees can be done and held for a month without really messing up. So I know I’m late on this one as I should’ve put it up before Thanksgiving but if you can move fast you’ll be able to move units. Think about beating your competition to the punch as you can talk to your church and probably move 100 to your congregation. Then you donate some to other churches to do the same thing over and over. It’s quick cash the way I see it but only for those who have the heart.

The secret to making money is concentrating on making money. What everyone else thinks is making money is doing it in a certain way. So the more ways you know to make money the more money you can make. That’s why I always stress the empire because the empire includes a million ways to make money. So if we concentrate on the thing that can hold all things we’ll have everything.

You’re building the foundation and that’s step 1. Until then you’re right in accumulating all the knowledge you can get your hands on. Get as much understanding as you possibly can. When the time comes you’ll be unstoppable. When one thing doesn’t work it’s just not the right time not the end of your life. You’ll be able to make adjustments to the situation you are in. That’s the key to make money in all seasons.
