24 Hour Wait Loss
Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes
Whenever I don’t ge
t exactly what I want I feel a real sense of loss. Now I’m talking about chips and moving forward, not some domestic shit; because everything I am going after I am all in. So when I lose a deal that could’ve moved me forward I take about 24 hours to recover. I usually stop talking to people because I know I’m not in the right mindset to have normal relations. Overall I give myself time to let the loss get out of my system.
When I was young in the game I would say all kinds of stupid shit like “walk it off” or “brush it off” or “shake it off” or some variation of telling myself to get over it. But, when I got more seasoned I just found out it’s better if I just sit down and let the purging process take it’s course. Since I always have a Plan B to Z I already know what to do next but damn it I wanted it to work out the first time. Truthfully this is how I have learned to always be in the mode of making deals so I can replace the loss with the hunt for a win. I’ve seen when other cats keep bringing up the one that got away and how that would’ve set them up for life. When I hear that I think there’s more out there and, even if we have to piece together 5 deals to get what the 1 I missed was worth; I got to get to that level.
In this game it’s inevitable that you are going to lose a couple of big ones. There’s nothing to learn from it as it’s more about you learning about yourself. I tried all the drinking, talking to women, taking a nap, going running and even taking long drives shit. If you get mad (like me) to the point where I’m talking to myself on the street, then you need to remedy that quick. Sometimes I even rate the loss on a 10 point scale saying it was more of a step than the goal but nonetheless a loss. I know I got to hurry up and get my mind right and back to the hunt as every second I give to something I can never have is handicapping my hustle.
I don’t know how long you may take to recover from your loss but mine is about 24 hours. Overall I know I’m still in the game and my chips are still actively on the betting line.

You know what I haven’t really thought about is the recovery process. I think I take too long to purge a loss. Bad habit. I need to learn to let it go and start over on better terms.
For most cats they lie to themselves and say they are alright when they got the wind knocked out of them. It would be better to take a knee and fully recoup instead of going back out there half ass. The more seasoned you get the more you know yourself and you stop handicapping your hustle when you know the loss still stings.
I agree 1000%. Thats what I had to train myself to do. Now I am back on my A game. thinking about truck driving. I figure since I dont have rent or kids I can save atleast half the money I make my first 2 years. Then I can use that to open a couple businesses. I am thinking about an at risk facility for kids a day care center and a store.
…cont.. I will do this all before the age of 29 and if its popping like that. I will open up a few more businesses before 30. Life is great.
I like the plan homie and like you said in 2 years you’ll be ready to open up the transaction based business. Life is good when you know where you’re headed and how to do it.
R&G, you have a very good real-world blog. WHen you take a loss, my advice is to use the two very short anglo-saxon words, “Fuck it”
Fuck it, learn from it, then move on faster and smarter.

Welcome Mike D – Thanks for the advice but as always it’s easier said than done. To each his own especially when it comes to understanding your own process of purging losses.
