Rain Gutter Cleaning Start-Up

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

Many people want to keep the inside as well as the outside of their house clean. One of the areas they certainly want to get cleaned is the gutter. They want it clean but they don’t like climbing up to their roof just to clean it. They usually look for people to clean the mess for them. They are prepared to pay for their gutter to be cleaned. And that started the gutter cleaning businesses.

Get a start-up capital. Operating capital is not quite large for this business most especially if your will not hire workers for your business. An amount of 150 bucks is quite enough to start this business. This money is primarily for buying or renting the equipment you need to accomplish the job.

  • You have to complete the equipment and supplies you need for the business. Make sure you acquire them, either by buying or just renting them. You will need a power washer to spray the gutters until they are cleaned. You also need a ladder to reach the gutters. Include in your inventory trash bags which will contain the debris that fall from the gutter. For your protection, you should have a pair of working gloves. Better to buy the one that is washable than disposable. This will help you save more operating capital.

  • Do your business during the day so that lighting would not be a problem. If the customer would want to have it done during late afternoon or night, you can charge them extra for giving extra effort to finish the job.

  • Advertise your existence. You may start within your neighborhood first. Visit one house and another and check their gutter. If you find it dirty, tell them that you are actually in the gutter cleaning business and you can clean it for them. A good advertisement also comes from testimonials of satisfied past customers.

  • If business does well and more clients are calling for your service, you might want to expand business and take a partner or hire workers. Hiring workers would cost you some money but it would be worth it.

You can charge about 60 dollars per hour for a house and 90 dollars a hour for commercial buildings. So with your ladder and a power washer you can make some quick cash.
