Chess & Checkers

Reading time: 2 – 3 minutes

No matter where you go when you talk about money someone brings up the analogy of Chess & Checkers. Checkers meaning you are simple and playing a kids game while Chess means you are a master or something. Whenever you hear this come out of someone’s mouth you know you are dealing with a Sucker. Comparing money to games of any sort is the words of Groupies who want to sound like they are about money! I hear it on TV all of the time and all I think is here comes some fake show about wannabe Hustlers saying a whole bunch of CORN.

Real talk how many people you know who play Chess or Checkers seem to be about their Money? Most people who are about their Chips never seem to play any damn thing because the game they are playing is Real and it results in Real Money. What can the Hustler learn about money from playing any of those games? What can the Hustler learn about someone else who plays those games? A lot because he should realize he is dealing with someone who wants to sound like they are about money instead of actually possessing it!

Unless you are Milton Bradley and you are selling Chess & Checkers there’s no money in it! A lot of people spend tons of time on strategy games like it sharpens their skills but really it’s unrelated to Money. Just because you can play Sodoku and beat the Chinese doesn’t mean you are a smart businessman. Games are games and unless you are in the military and you’re reenacting war games then most games have no value. People love to draw parallels to say life is like a box of chocolates OR life is like a rollercoaster full of ups and downs. Well when it comes to money there is no close cigar to being in it and getting it…. because if there was everyone would do it.

So keep the games to the Suckers. Keep the funny names and comparisons with the Suckers too! Anyone comparing things with fake overused statements usually doesn’t know what the hell they are talking about and that’s why they say Chess & Checkers!

Glad to see we are back to normal programming as I was marketing angled out. Love the site as I have been in the shadows for a year now. I hear you freeman!

I hear you loud and clear Freeman. Leave these bullshit games like Chess, Checkers, Xbox 360s, Playstations to the suckers, cuz they aint making us no money. Why waste our valuable time when we could be making money or learning knowledge that can help us get more money?

I plan on cancelling my Netflix and selling my games so the sucker can hand me his hard earned money. I swear if I would’ve known all of this game you’re telling me, I would’ve been started hustling two years ago when I wasn’t doing nothing!

I just know that it takes major discipline to get rid of our bad habits such as wasting time and getting fustrated at the end of the day about our results. I go through this every other day, when I see I’m not learning anything and I’ve wasted countless hours just doing nothing, I tend to punish myself so that I can get my ass to doing something!

@ReRun – Yeah February is Black History Month so I know this is a 100% Black site anyway but I like to focus on one aspect in February.

@RoyalT – If you can be productive and enjoy your life do both BUT….. If you got to choose one choose being productive cuz it’ll lead to enjoying your life. Hey I got the NBA season pass so I am not saying cancel all entertainment. There’s a time to hustle, a time to build and a time to chill.

Board games have never translated into money if they really resembled real life it wouldn’t be a game anymore.

(laughing @ ReRun) yea i straight felt like i was in a Saginaw Valley marketing class, it was all good game though.

I feel you on this post Freeman. Out of all the people I know Im the only one who doesn’t play video games, doesn’t play chess, and doesn’t give a damn about a over hyped up spades game during family functions and holidays. I get all kinds of crazy looks when I say I don’t play Madden or spades. My reasoning has always been that these games dont make me any money so I dont care about them. (on top of that I get bored too easy with them)

Now I might get bombed for this but the only game I will play is No Limit Hold’em and I play that only for money, never for fun. And honestly I do tend to compare Hold’em to playing the stock market. I play both of them and I see a lot of similarities. Some of the reasoning I would use when playing poker I use in the stock market and its payed off nice for me so far this year.

Nonetheless, I get the point. Business is business, games are games. Peace.

Hey join the club cuz I don’t see any reason to have a Xbox or any games unless it’s to throw off people. I keep a chess board in my house in plain view to keep Suckers believing I am smart because it’s on my bookcase.

I know a lot of cats who play Poker for exactly the same reason you do. I don’t like to lose money at all so I really don’t gamble period And, yeah business is business and unless we are in the business of making games we should be using our free time to build and plot and execute.

He said “..ni99as is playing checkers with chess playing Hov..”. I actually agree and disagree with u on this one freeman. I agree to the point that there really is no formula to making money other than buy low and sell high. watever u do in between doesn’t matter at all.

i think where the chess comes in, is in the “in between”. because if u play chess, u’ll know that it can sharpen your view of life in general, and alot of the times u can see things ahead of most. now of course u hav to apply this and improve your business sense, because just like any other skill u can pick up, if u play chess just to play chess then u won’t wake up one day and find yourself a millionaire. its ll in the application.

Ok let’s look at it naturally. If you practice playing basketball you’ll be a better Bball player right? So how can skipping rope help you when it comes to becoming a plumber?

So while I think you are linking mental games with developing better strategy NOTHING and I mean NOTHING takes the place of actually being out there making money. The only thing that comes close is probably school where they give you different scenarios involving money BUT CHESS is nothing more than a game smart people play which measures their intelligence.

Like I said how many cats playing Chess have you seen making millions? Everyone keeps on saying it because they are repeating the stupidity they heard their mama and grandma say but it ain’t real. Monopoly is a better game to play involving money and MONOPOLY Empire building strategies… why don’t cats play that?

Nothing prepares you for life except living this life and getting out there taking your chance to be wealthy!

  8. red wrote:

but that’s the whole point of chess.. its a mental game that should, and i repeat SHOULD, help you develop better strategy.

its like saying why should we teach kids how to read, write and count.. because if they just keep doing that then they’ll only become teachers to other kids. u have to apply these things.. and combine all yr skills and talents into money making schemes.

anything u pick up and do not apply will never help u.. the key word here is APPLICATION.

i think u should start playing chess.. u’ll be very pleasantly surprised.

Brother Red it’s not real. No matter how much you play hopsctoch it doesn’t translate into real life. But, real life can help you in a game. The strategy you gleen from Chess can be applied how? I’m trying to think of a real life scenario where someone manipulates the situation that wasn’t part of some Movie Con that made the public think it was real.

Also, RED c’mon man… you are comparing chess to reading? Whuh! Again reading is everywhere but chess strategies are only on that board. Real talk look around and see how many people about their money will admit that they got their strategy from playing chess. It’s what Smart people do but not what a Businessman does.. and there’s the difference.

Truth be told I can’t stand the game of chess. I’d rather sharpen my skills on real life instead of a simulator.

Like I said unless you are making Chess Boards and selling them there’s no money in that game!

I gotta agree with Red here. I think chess Could help in real life. Some of the strategy is similar to many of the things you preach on this site. Not saying everyone that plays is destined to be a billionaire. And if you’re going to take some time off from the grind and hustle, playing a game of chess isn’t the worse thing you could do

  11. R&G wrote:

Welcome Johnny – Now I’m not the end all and be all when it comes to Money BUT there aren’t too many games that can prepare you for life. Like I said war games by the military reenact real situations not strategy with ivory pieces.

If you’re not grinding or hustling you’re sleeping! There’s nothing wrong with constantly improving your situation financially and mentally. Kings do King shit man not play hopscotch…

I got a podcast coming up about symbolism that I think will explain game even more than this post can ever do. So come on back on Any Given Monday to build and break bread with your patna.

The only gaming that can help in real life are simulation games…chess don’t simulate a damn thing..

Chess is simply a game with game rules and have no basis in reality.

  14. R&G wrote:

Cats want it to be more because they probably play it but like you said it’s game rules not real life.
