Hip Hop Ain’t Everything (Lost Post)
Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes
I had to make this post because I see a lot of cats mixing the two and acting like whatever is related to Hip Hop is what money looks like. In fact the cats behind Hip Hop is what money looks like and the rest of the cats are cosigning their clothes, their Visa Cards and their liquor. Yeah I know it sounds like I’m hating but truth be told dig a little deeper young patna and you’ll see what I’m getting at.
Music is a very small part of what actually makes the world go round. Music and all kinds of artistic pursuits are not included with what Obama is worried about boosting the economy with. There isn’t a Music Lobby in the White House like there are for Welfare, Education, Military and even Healthcare. The game got so many of you young cats all twisted up and backwards that ya’ll actually believe the words of cats who are in the entertainment industry like they are moguls! Moguls to what and to whom is the question you should be asking because anyone can assign themselves a name and in fact I’m renaming myself Freeman the Conqueror homie! So respond to this post by new name eventhough I haven’t conquered anything!
Open your eyes from this point on and notice that there are a million to a billion things that are making a million to a billion dollars right now that have nothing to do with Hip Hop. Now don’t get me wrong I love Hip Hop and it’s still my preferred music but I am not mixing Music with Money. I’m not allowing those who get paid to entertain tell me their life is real life. Sure it’s really theirs but it sure as hell ain’t the rest of ours. So if a man makes a million playing a banjo on his knee, and you know no one knows how to play the banjo, and then not everyone who plays will be great; then his way to the top is very limited and whatever comes out of his mouth is not for all but for him.
Entertainers entertain and that’s why they are on TV because a comedian can make you laugh, a actor can make you cry, a boxer can make you wince, a magician can perform tricks but none of them have anything to do with money. It’s a job that they get a higher salary from than you. Fame doesn’t make you rich it’s just make you noticed and if the famous person in the end owns nothing then all he can do is help sell the REAL BUSINESSES products! This is why you see models on Victoria Secret because they know women will think if I wear that I’ll look like Naomi Cambell.
Don’t get swindled young homie when you watch the television. This money game is bigger than you think and you aren’t recognizing the cats they send out to entertain the cats with real money. Hip Hop is great music but in the end it’s just that to me MUSIC and really another form of entertainment. Don’t let the cats who push this mythology tell you it’s a lifestyle because when you look at the top it’s ran by cats who don’t even listen to the music.
You have to think bigger than music if you really want money. Entertainment is setup to find talent and then pimp that talent. The question is do you want to be pimped or do the pimping!

I don’t get it when people refer to the “hip hop generation” or the “era of hip hop” like its the Roman empire. Like any rapper actually controls or has a say in what hip hop is really about. The people who control hip hop look like Mr. Cleaver and have never been to the hood. They just sell us on the idea that pain and suffering in the ghettos of American appeal to the masses. As if some surburban kid can undertstand how a kid in the projects is living. Or would even care beyond getting cool points among his friends because he knows the lyrics to a Biggie Smalls song.
Hip hop, just like about everything on TV and/or radio, isn’t real. Its just entertainment. Nothing more, nothing less. Hell, even the rappers aren’t real. Rick Ross anyone?
Good points in this post!!!
Like you done said somewheres in this post:
Some folk dont know how to seperate fantasy from reality and thats really where the problem start at.
I can think back to when I was in high school when I couldnt even walk 10 feet without meetin a cat I know(or aint know) that wanna rap.
Even I was in that frame of mind at the time where I wanted to get my rhyme on and the whole 9.
Lucky for me,
I found my callin on the business side of hip-hop.
@mcdivit – Yeah I find it funny too like there is Country generation too. I just want people to stop using entertainment as the idea of wealth. They had court jesters back in the day and now these are just glorified entertainers.
I’m not trying to hate but if we are talking about money we have to look at the guy able to pay the guy millions. I think that’s the more powerful position.
@Vann – I’m glad you found a way to make money exploiting the suckers like everyone has already done. The power always lies in allowing people to live out their dreams whether that be the club, singing or even going to Vegas and living it up. Whomever is in charge of putting other cats on is indeed powerful..
Music is music but we got some cats who think Money is music. Music is another avenue to the Chips but they aren’t the only way to make chips.
@R&G
That much is true.
And somethin else too:
If they dumb enough to sell they soul for it,
Im crazy enough to give them the opportunity.
Even tho times always gon change,
Whether its music or life in general,
Its always gon be a demand.
Just make sure you got a supply on deck to meet that demand!!!
artist don’t want to get money they want to be famous. I look at a cat like drake who built his own buzz had some good cosigns but instead of going the independent route he was so juiced to sign a deal and hand over his money. Hell if he thought the label was going to give him that extra exposure he could’ve signed a 1 album deal then ate off the rest himself.
Man you hit the nail on the head! If he was about chips and just needed distribution then he would’ve signed that one record deal and then went super-indy on them. I’m glad the game is soaking in because now you see all they want is fame and if that’s the case it’s just natural for someone to take advantage of the money from the beauty pageant!
