Brainwashed – Book Review

If you don’t think imagery plays a role in how you attack making money you would be wrong. The fact you think everything will be hard or that you will have to overcome other groups is all based on some lie that has been fed to you. The fact that you would rather sell to other folks instead of your own lets you know that someone has led you astray.
Brainwashed is a book by Mr. Burrell who some may know from his time as pretty much the Guru of Black Marketing. After he left the Burrell Group he sat down and wrote a book which basically asks that we question our self-defeating attitudes and behaviors. Racism is not the issue; how we respond to media distortions and programmed self-hatred is the issue. It will answer some questions that you didn’t even know you wanted the answer to!

I finished reading this book about a week ago and I found it extremely confirmational and enlightening.
“Racism is not the issue; how we respond to the media distortions and programmed self-hatred is the issue.”
That is truth!!!
I stumbled across the book and was glad someone with background in marketing was able to breakdown the imagery. Like I said I admire the cats that take their knowledge and find a way for it to help their own folks.
The book is great and I think it should be required reading to explain some of the ways we see the world and why.
I loved this book! Being in Marketing (the business of bullsh*t) it was nice to see one of the old guard of the business (and a Black one at that) break down how the discipline has been used to keep Black folks looking like sh-*t. Honestly I knew this stuff, but it was still nice to see him lay it out the way he did.
Well I think you need a cat who actually uses the tool to explain to the spectators how to use it. So I was equally impressed that the cat came from behind the desk to put everyone up on game. It’s a must read for so many things that the novice to the marketing game is simply unaware of.
