Grinding It Out – Book Review
Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes
I personally always wanted to know how that cat made McDonalds. I mean if you think about it McD’s might be the best known company in the world as they got the game on lock. I always heard about Ray Kroc as I used to work at McDonald’s myself as teenager. Just from working there I learned about systems and why Mom and Pop places can’t fade McDonald’s with their efficiency and innovation.
The biggest thing I learned is how you can stumble into a great idea. I also learned that some people are caught up in the nostalgia of making a good business instead of growing it and making a empire. This is the book that pretty much teaches you about the game on the way to creating your empire. All the people who will come and go, all the people who won’t believe in you, all the people you have to buy off, all the people you have to put on. All of the game you need in one short paperback book about a product and a company you can see in action…. What more do you need?

You got me on this one as I have ordered for cheap and haven’t gotten to it. Ray Kroc is just a cat who took someone else’s idea and decided to make it big. He isn’t the creator of it at all. In fact even the sandwiches that are famous came from other people. If this isn’t a Hustler what you do call that.
Sound like a book I need to read ASAP!!
@BTB – I agree as when you read this book you’ll see he wasn’t the creator just the cat who recognized gold when he saw it. You don’t have to create anything you can buy it from someone else who is to lame to make it a empire.
@BSW – Yeah it’s desert reading as it’s a fascinating story about how one guy stumbled onto a billion dollar business by trying to sell milk shake machines.
