Thank You Very Much

How long do you have to be thankful that someone put you on? I mean they gave you a job, gave you a chance and gave you the lead to a life changing sale. To most people they think they have you by the nuts forever but for people like me I’d rather pay you off so I don’t have to hear that crap again. I know there are some people who will think they built who you are by putting you on.

When I was a kid we had a kind of game called “No Hits” That was a game that let everyone around you know you weren’t going to share your candy. That also meant to cats that shared candy with you earlier that you weren’t going to share this with them even though they thought you owed them.  Well me being young Freeman I just never asked anyone for anything so when I said No Hits everyone knew whether I said it or not I wasn’t going to share my candy. So as I got older into this business game I realized I’d better not ask too many people for jack.

When I started my company one cat hooked me up with his brother who pretty much put me on to some clients that brought money to the company. Me and the brother made a deal to split the money brought in. Now the original brother who put me on was kind of X’d out of the deal. But, I went and gave the cat a chunk of money that was above and beyond what I should’ve but I wanted to make sure I thanked him for what he did. Now his own brother never gave him a dime. Now I did this because I didn’t want this guy thinking all future earnings from Freeman he had Hits on. So I made sure early as all hell that I paid him first before I even paid myself.

Now when you get older the old cats will feel that the advice they give you has a cost. When I say older cats I mean the older generation of cats who are making business happen. They all operate this mentor grease the hands of the people who put you on. It’s up to you how you are going to handle them when you get there but I usually talk to them in a business way to let them know I will break them off ONE TIME. Other than that they aren’t my mentor and they aren’t my daddy. I appreciate the help the angles and the introduction but I ain’t going to thank your ASS forever.

Some people are always beholden to another cat and you see them when they back some old ass politician that they don’t have anything in common with. In business you will see people try to make you use their friends to do the copying and they will try to cut everyone they know in on some deal like they are the union and they have mafia connections. My way around it is to give them money and let them know Thank You Very Much and I’m going to keep it moving.
