College Futon Start-Up

One of my first Start-Ups that I never got to bring into being was my College Futon business. See when I was in college I knew everyone went out and bought futons and all kinds of throwaway furniture. I mean I was the only cat I knew who made sure I had a bed and even that I got from a Hotel closeout place that had unused mattresses and boxsprings. By the time I got back to this idea I was already onto other things.

So again here is one of my backpocket Start-Ups just for you cats to digest and think about. If some of you cats are young and still in College are near a college I think you might be a millionaire. And, if you don’t do it don’t be surprised when you hear about it in the future as it’s still in my backpocket.

Setup:

1. Contact Futon manufacturers in your area and ask for a price list
2. See if they have a whole set that they sell as most college kids would buy the whole set
3. Contact a wholesale lighting companies also as that is a natural accessory
4. Locate a strip mall near the college and lease space only for 1 month before school starts and 1 month after
5. Create a catalog of all your full selection but keep a couple of the nice ones in the your showroom
6. Locate a small delivery company that will deliver and assemble your futons to the students apartments

Parlay:

1. Contact the major apartments in the area and see if they will allow you to advertise when people sign their lease.
2. Do a flyer distribution while you sponsor a free party in the park near the college
3. Get your college salesman on the grind for you selling and cosigning your business as they make money pushing your product.

See this Start up is seasonal but every year there will be a couple hundred OR thousand students looking for this Futon as this is all they can afford. Most students have just enough money to buy the cheap metal ones but that’s because that’s all that is usually offered. Most of your weed heads in college will only sleep on a futon as they spend the majority of money on weed. Most of your women in college will probably want more variety so keep the catalog ready.
