Here’s What They Think About You
Reading time: 4 – 7 minutes
As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier. This was announced with a several day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment. Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us. The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.
There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you. You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal. You have given so much and deserve so much more.
“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘KING’ WINS ONE”
You can take it to the bank. If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels. Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there. Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works. This shocking act of disloyalty from our home grown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow-up to become. But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio. The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma. Just watch.
As I saw this letter I thought DAMN this is what happens when a businessman decides he doesn’t want to be pimped anymore. I mean for a second I thought LBJ was making the wrong choice but if this was the type of devil he was working under then bounce homie. You got other devils on TV saying he is stupid for joining up with other great players to make a championship run but they didn’t see anything wrong with it when Garnett, Pierce and Allen did the same thing in Boston. I congratulate LBJ for going to win and knowing what money is really about….
So of course this is the R&G so let’s break down what really went down because some of you cats aren’t piecing the money together properly…
- Florida doesn’t have state income tax aka LBJ gets a big chunk of his contract and if he centers business down there he will always get a bigger percentage of all money made while being in Florida
- Florida has the Homestaead Act which allows you to keep your house out of all possible divorce settlements and other issues that may come up
- Winning a Championship propels LBJ to new levels in China and other overseas markets. I mean damn Miami is the portal to South America so he is going to be on three continents with his business.
Personally this is a great business move but most Suckers to the game will concentrate on him taking less of a salary not knowing the business implications. Although he exchanged working for one devil to another but in the game he’s in all he can do is find a cool place in hell to get to that Bill-ticket. Remember LBJ wants to be the first player to become a billionaire and this cat is on the right track. The game isn’t in New York anymore when it comes to business as you have to think International and Miami with championships will do just that.
The game is cold and Dan Gilbert the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers (who has his money from Quicken Software and now Quicken Home Loans) is what you call a baby in business with his don’t leave this pimpin reaction. When you get into business don’t let these devils make you forget that you are the reason why the sun comes up not their pasty ass.
Don’t think it won’t come with some criticism when you make a move like this as LBJ will get all kinds of devils saying he can’t win it by himself. But, neither did Bird, Magic, Jordan, or Jerry West with Chamberlain or Bill Russell with Cousy. Man I’m a Laker Historian and I know Magic had Worthy,Kareem, Scott, AC Green, Cooper, Rambis and Pat Riley as a coach and we had some super talent.
LBJ is a cat who understands what it means to own his brand. That’s all he got and he’s milking that brand into millions and probably billions. Got to love it when you see a cat thinking on the move and knowing what it means for him and his pockets.
Keep doing what you’re doing and don’t pay these devils no mind! These motherfuckers are not ready for someone who knows exactly what he is and what he has. Damn it’s lovely to watch!

I was surprised at the negative reaction of watching Lebron moving on but then again, I was not surprised….
If I was in the NBA, I would not bother playing for those bitter cats in Cleveland, burning LBJ shirts and the owner making bitter comments. All they basically said in Cleveland is if you are very good at what you do, all they want to do is hold you back, exploit and bloodsuck you and curse you if you want to do better.
But to be honest, this is why I left Chicago behind because that’s how some of these Midwestern cats think, for real. They don’t want to see cats come up and become bigger than the situation around him. Who the f*ck want to see Lebron stuck in a city like Cleveland, Ohio – come on, what the hell?
I knew he was going to Miami and I knew Shaquille put a bug in his ear. The best places to go to a basketball game is the Staples Center and the AA Center. Some cats don’t know what’s it like to call up your boys and take a flight to LA or MIA just to watch a game then hang out in the nightlife after the game. Who the f*ck want to fly to Cleveland, real talk?
You are on point and I thought the same thing – this is how people treat you when you want to do bigger and better things. They act like you “betrayed” them instead of you being loyal to yourself and your future.
the coach probably did a lot for lebron to help him get set up to be in the position he is in is the only reason i can think of for him having so much hatred like that, though.
i try to see things from both sides, but damn, putting that letter out there like that and burning jerseys was a bitch ass move. they act like it wasn’t possible at all that he go somewhere else.
@Ed – Anytime a cat realizes exactly what he is and what he brings to the table the cat who has been exploiting him gets mad. Ish man when I started my own the owner of the company I worked for told me I wouldn’t be good at it. So believe me I don’t know the level of hate LBJ is experiencing but I do know a bit of it.
All the stuff that matters to most people didn’t matter to him and that’s the beauty of it. Yes, he could’ve went somewhere to stroke his ego but he decided to join up with cats to win. I think that’s speaks volumes about the cat’s mentality as he understands that at a young age. I mean you can’t get cats to put their ego aside and pick hotels in South Beach. I was more shocked that they went after him like that knowing they were all on his nuts all this time.
As long as you can milk Bessie shes a great cow as soon as she stops or runs away Bessie is the worst heffer ever. Glad to see LBJ realize that he is a self contained unit and can do what he wishes.
@Keish – I think LBJ was humble about the whole thing and he parlayed the hour long special into helping charity. That cat can’t win because he has the right to chose what he wants to do and people hate him for it.
People think he should go down with the ship but he doesn’t own the team so why would an employee think that way. He is not a slave and doesn’t have to care what happens to the Masters house!
Well, well, well looks like my man got some brains! Was not impressed by his choice i would have gone to Miami also if it were me. Not because of the team but of what the state can offer for a rich person like him. Why come to NY where they will tax him to death and cost of living will make you broke like paying 10 bucks for a pack of smokes! and also now that the state is in financial turmoil staying away is the best choice! And then there is Cleveland, what can i say i’m sure its a nice place but they are also hurting and those winters are brutal! so Miami is a great choice!!I was just surprised about the amount of hate and sarcasm he is catching on all sides. Instead of shaking the mans hand and wishing him good luck they decide to throw him under the bus! The man made a decision to better his career and his future and for people to criticize his move is just ridiculous. Let the man be and let him make his money so he can feed his family at the same time enjoy the eye candy on South Beach!
Beware of the Kardashian sisters!!!!
Oh and those idiots burning their Cavalier jerseys please grow the fuck up! He already got your money when you bought the jersey!!
LBJ would have to pay 12.3 million in state taxes in NY, 10.4 in New Jersey and 5.6 in Ohio but he doesn’t have to pay any in FLORIDA! People don’t see the money but that’s like another year of chips in his pockets.
The hate comes from a Man realizing what he’s worth and manipulating the system that once manipulated him. Now the manipulators get mad and convince the fans that he’s against them because they are suckers to the game of money. It’s the classic diversion angle where the owner is telling you I feel your pain while he sits on 1 billion from his Quicken Empire.
Man this is my favorite part about business is this moment right here. Where a cat realizes that he’s in business too and starts making business moves. LBJ just got to realize that when you play the business game out in the public the public will think ill of you. Even if he came out humble and trying to help folks those who don’t understand money will hate him. But, the chips in his pockets won’t and this shit will blow over as soon as the season starts.
I’m a die hard Laker fan but today I am looking foward to the Heat and I became a fan of Lebron for using his mind and his grind.
The owners of the Quickie Loans are business men(brothers) who started a hook and crook mortgage company in Michigan that will guarantee you a loan regardless of what your circumstance is. The name of this company was call Rock Financial, after the mortgage fallout the name was change to Quickie Loans. I’m so glad LeBron James left, this a perfect example of you reap what you sow. Dan Gilbert owns a convention hall in Novi Michigan called Rock Financial Show Place a popular place to do business. The Gilberts just completed building a new and much larger convention hall just a few blocks down from the older hall in order to steal the auto show from Cobo Hall downtown Detroit. The Gilberts decided to lease out the older hall to vendors as a flea market concept from an ideal that China is employing and seeing great success. Novi community blocked this ideal because too many minorities apply. Thanks LeBron!
Well sometimes you make deals with the devil and as soon as your business is done it’s time to get away from Hell. From the response of Dan Gilbert you knew he isn’t cut from the cloth of a the normal businessman. Who in their right mind would write a letter that will circulate forever about the nature of the owner of a team. As a player would you want to be under a guy who runs a business but doesn’t understand when someone makes a business move.
It’s a good thing I’m not LBJ as I would have done a interview calling him a carpetbagger. He’s not from OHIO so what grounds does he have for saying LBJ sold out. It’s funny what people have the guts to say but few ever challenge.
Either way LBJ made the right move and all this will be something they bring up when Carmelo leaves Denver under free agency.
Rady,
Can you tell us more about the flea market concept that you say is working out well? We are looking at trying to apply this model in other hoods around the country to help brothas and sistas….
1st of all love the website…
This remind me of those talk shows when the person comes out and belittle the person that’s about to come out and the crowd boo’s.. They boo just bc the 1st person said the 2nd person is a bad person..
When they don’t know who’s right or wrong..
Listening to espn they say he can NEVER go home they say he can NEVER walk around cleveland without the national guard.. That’s so silly. .. They set the tone of the public and a weak mind will do what they heard on espn..
To get deeper (coughing ) “tea party” .. Glenn beck and those other new hateravision show always set the tone of the public .. Against Obama .. And a weak mind will do anything just bc these ppl have a mass following
I think it is real messed up the way he is going at Lebron. Lebron made him MILLIONS of dollars, and he decided to move on to bigger and better things and now Lebron is the worst person in the world? C’mon son. I’m happy for LeBron, I think he made the best decision for himself and now he can get a ring and move to bigger and better things. Hopefully I can see him Wade, Bosh, and James play sometime this season since I’m in FL.
@Hype – Welcome & Thanks! – Those who don’t understand get manipulated those who do manipulate. Realistically it’s like someone complaining that they took away your favorite toy. It just shows the level of boredom most places have in their cities as I like the Lakers but if they leave oh well we’ll move on because we got other things to do in LA.
85% of people are sheep and that’s the percentage that make up capitalism. If it wasn’t for them thinking it’s time to BBQ the charcoal companies wouldn’t make millions. So when you see these same sheeple getting whipped up into a frenzy the rest of them join in and buy more tickets to the Cavaliers just to show Lebron, who is no longer there; that they don’t need them….
Again those who understand manipulate!
@Kwan – Welcome – See this is why you have to remove the emotion out of your business dealings. It doesn’t matter that he made him millions as it shouldn’t matter to LBJ that Cleveland let him play there. If it’s business which this is then the contract is over and that’s that. But, Gilbert is playing a role to get the people of Cleveland to be mad and still buy tickets. It’s a hustle and those who don’t understand get hustled.
It was the best decision for LBJ. The only difference is the superstar joined another team instead of some alright stars joining him. That’s why people are pissed. Gilbert thought he could attract talent to Cleveland with the hopes of playing with LBJ. But, instead the star left and said to hell with letting him determine my fate.
That’s why I think it’s lovely to see. Man, I couldn’t come up with a better example to show how much power each of us have. We just have to stop playing at this guys DisneyLand and make our own. And, that’s what LBJ did he made his own on his terms….
I’m glad LBJ is making a better business move for himself by moving to miami. I hope he eventually tells nike to go fuck themselves and distribute and manufacture is shoes.
If he made his own shoes then Nike owner Phil Knight will come out and spew more hate. LBJ could sell 1 billion shoes in the world and have that money in 1 year. If that happens then I am going to rename the Blog LeBron James on Rise and Grind!
He got his mind right and I expect some more great things from LBJ. No rap albums, no clothing lines but something that actually means money that he owns 100% with no partners. We’ll see but it’s a great first step….
I’m proud of that young man. LeBron let Dan Gilbert know I in control, like you said LeBron out smarted and out maneuver the devil and kick him right where it hurt in the pocketbook. Dan Gilbert symbolize the type of business dealing that goes on in Michigan. Back in 2006 employees for Quickie Loans reported for work only to find them self out of a job,500 people,no warning,no explanation,no severance pay,no nothing, terminated! I guess he live by the Golden Rule. If you wanna talk about dollars and cents, LeBron would be the owner of the Calverliers, city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio. LeBron Just Do It,NBA championships, and to see LeBron face grace the cover of Forbes Billionaire Magazine issue.
Ed…I was hoping I would be able to locate the article on China.(2004) A group of realtors decided to purchase abandoned properties,(5-10 stories)gut them out and divide equal space and allow their people to try and establish wealth in way that is affordable. First the lease space was reasonable, second once you reach a certain level of income you must move out and allow a newcomer to be able to start their business in order to attain wealth. What caught my attention was the building was full, just like a bee hive, and overflowing,it would take you more than 6 months to visit every vendor that had floor space. Business owners were becoming wealthy, and some hit millionaire status.(with help from owners who own machine shops) I from Detroit, and Detroit was always a great place to do business, the flea markets that thrives are located in small communities away from downtown. Downtown lease space is more on the high end, seller markets downtown(in my city)would be lucky if they break even. Michigan hums when automobiles are selling, things are slow, but with the right product, money can be made. I did free-lance photography and my wife sell ladies fashion.
Rady,
You sound like someone who was keen enough to see how the money is flowing. I don’t know if these are Chinese people who built up and if so, this would explain a lot. If these are brothas and sistas, behind all of this then that would be shocking and would like to know who they are and that article.
I’ve been blogging about all the points you mentioned and everything you said is pretty much the exact flow of how to make economic activity and revitalization happen in the hood if we want to.
They built a place that attracted a lot of foot traffic, filled the space with vendors who were hungry and created economic activity – this is what we are not setting up in Black community and your example is a perfect success model that others should know about.
Thanks for replying!
