The Side of Your Neck!

Reading time: 2 – 4 minutes

A lot of cats talk out of the side of their neck when it comes to people they think they are better than. If you make movies then you make better films than Speilberg. If you make beats you are better than Dre. If you make cakes you are better than Sara Lee. If you make clothes your line is better than Gucci. If you make kids they are better than Obama’s. If you make toilet paper yours is better than Charmin. All this because you are hating on the low and are frustrated that people you think you are better than are out there actually doing it.

I personally hate talking to these cats because year after year their hustle hasn’t panned out but yet they somehow have become the expert. So if the cats make beats he now has the ear to tell you if the beat is whack. If the cat makes movies then he can tell you what movies suck and should be edited. I know cat’s got a healthy belief in themselves but most of these cats don’t respect the hustle enough to shut up. And, I mean shut up period because you haven’t signed the contract, made any money selling your hustle or even got one groupie who likes your ish! I don’t care if you sat here and read all the books on money until you make something from all that knowledge shut the hell up about everyone else.

I usually don’t want to burst their bubble because personally I am not a artist. But, I can tell you what I am; I am the cat who doesn’t like to ish on people as a pasttime. Real talk you don’t know what that cat has or had to do to make money and it’s obvious that you don’t because you don’t have any damn money. Somehow you going to school or watching endless movies have made you a critic where you think when you open your mouth. Somehow they get around each other and form a cipher acting like they are practicing to be the best and out of all this practice will come the best rapper alive.

This is just a public service announcement from someone who isn’t next to you when you are talking like you got next! Until it turns into something someone can see instead of some old bootleg hustle with you reading all the magazines keeping up with the cats who are actually doing it shut up! You are getting rid of the respect people may have for your grind and demeaning your actual craft by opening your amateur ass mouth. If you are better than them we’ll see it in due time but as of right now the time says you are talking out of the side of your neck!

This sounds more like gamesmanship than business and a lot of sideliners and hobbyists engage in this activity. The only thing that matters in business is your customers, not your so-called competition.

These business books, especially the business plan books are the blame for making up this “competition” ish and people fall for that crap. Netflix did not come in the game saying they were going to “beat Blockbuster”, the sh*t just happened due to consumer preference…

Cats who are serious about business need to realize the only thing that matters in business, the only moment that means something is when a customer pulls out their cash or credit card.

I just get tired of hearing the amateur analysis of cats actually doing it. I don’t care how many beat machines you have and how many cats say you are good in reality until the chips come in you just have talent. Talent unrealized is what most cats are talking from.

The worst part is we don’t need talent to make money, all we have to do is give the customer what they want.

This reminds me of Ethan Allen who wanted $7,000 for a piece of furniture I can find as a cheap discount store for $798. I don’t give a sh*t how good and talented Ethan Allen make their products, I am a consumer and I just want a bedroom set.

True you don’t need talent to make money but that is the focus of millions of brothers trying to crack the entertainment industry. They don’t see another way so they all huddle up like a bunch of cows to the slaughter house wasting time instead of making money.

Yeah, it’s absolutely nuts watching brothas spending more time spitting dis lyrics on mixtapes versus selling records and videos that the customer/fans can feel and pay 99 for the download or ringtone.

Same cats that want to talk about Soulja Boy…

That’s what gets me that they haven’t sold anything but they feel like they are a expert. The best that never made it is the award they want and it’s just stupid all the way around.

So what about people that make their $$ writing about movies, or music, or art? If they were any good they’d be doing it, rather than writing about it. Yet somebody thinks they know enough about the subject to have a worthwhile opinion, and hired them to write for whatever paper, magazine, blog, etc. that they write for. I think most of ‘em are neck-talkers, yet every now and then they make a good point. Just sayin’.

I don’t see anything wrong with people writing and selling their scripts. Doesn’t mean they would be a actor or singer if that’s not where their talents lie. The end of all conversations is people owning everything they produce as that is the best position.

Most people are lost and think being part of something leads to something. But usually being away from everyone else leads to something. Everyone talks out of the side of their necks because they have no idea where to go. So they talk what they see and that’s a hell of a lot less than what they know.
