Delaying A Dream
Reading time: 3 – 4 minutes
Sometimes things come up and you have to push back the thing you really want to go after. As long as it’s not forever then take it in stride because there is hardly a person whose plan will work to perfection. It happens to me so much that I realistically have a second level of preparation that I roll into. An example is lets say I’m planning to start a business but my current business is forcing my hand. So what I do is I go to another level of detail on the hustle I want to execute when I start the new business. So if I had the vendors set up now I might actually start contacting people with retail space for lease and see if I can find new vendors to get the ingredients for less.
See the game doesn’t stop but the Dream will. Afterall it’s a dream and it’s not reality so why would you think it will work out like you imagined it! Your dream being delayed is like a estimate being wrong in math the best you can do without going out and doing it is eyeball the Hustle. You can only theorize what you think would work, what you think people are willing to pay and what the actual experience will be like. Hustle ain’t like planning a school trip in elementary school and getting your parents to sign a trip slip. All you can do is keep perfecting the Hustle while you are delayed in actually implementing it.
This understanding is so crucial because a lot of cats will call it a day and say it’s not in the cards for them to succeed. How many times has someone pulled out the GOD card saying if GOD wanted me to have it then it will come to them. They think because it rained on their Hustle it’s a sign from GOD when in reality it’s the sign of a Sucker! Rain happens homie, delays happen and ish happens to everyone that’s not the issue. The real issue is will you stick to the Hustle even if it requires you having to wait a year to get back to a point of attempting it.
Like I said to you before in podcasts this recession has delayed a lot of the businesses I wanted to start. In fact it has changed my mind temporarily from domination to survival. I don’t like to think about survival because it requires me cutting back to the bone to stay afloat and ain’t nothing at the bone but marrow. I had to count my blessings and say to myself slow money is better than no money. But, overall I haven’t given up on my Dreams and in fact I am in the lab taking the plans to damn near perfection level down to the smallest detail. So when the sun comes out and people are back to flipping chips I’ll be in the position to receive.
So when your Dream is Delayed don’t fret take the plan of your hustle to the next level and get even more detailed. If you already done that then create another Hustle that should work when the sun comes out. If you already done that come up with a 3rd, 4th and 5th hustle that you have fleshed out to the T. Get used to your dreams being delayed and come up with 100 ways to hustle when the time is right.

So are you saying Dreams are for idiots or that I shouldn’t quit because it didn’t come out just like in my dreams? I agree sometimes my plan is pushed back but when is it time to let it be next year’s hustle or I’m just making excuses on why I shouldn’t push through it right now?
Great site still going back to read from the beginning.
Well everyone dreams but fail to recognize that it’s not real. While you might get inspiration from the dream it’s rarely concrete steps to follow when you wake up. It’s just a good feeling mixed with a little bit of WTF in most dreams.
So a dream is the feeling that things could work but it can’t replace the actual work. So chasing dreams is not that smart as all they are, are a flash of what could be but not what actually is.
The difference between delay and excuse is you taking a small chance on it. You’ll see as you build your hustle if it’s going to work out as you get closer and closer to it. I usually try to push a small sample of my hustle even if I don’t think it will work. This recession got a lot of cats delaying their money waiting for everyone to start buying. We got to be the cats that keep testing the market to see what could be sold. If you figure that out you’ll have the market on lock as no one will show up to compete for probably 2 more years. Of course if you don’t open your mouth too.
Try anyway and that’s how you’ll know it just isn’t the time. Most cats make excuses but replace excuses with reality and sometimes it just ain’t the time.
Suckers Dream, Hustlers Envision.
Welcome Aztek – Let me add that even though we Envision without a plan we are just hallucinating!
You and me both.
I’m still running a couple of construction jobs (Which I hate doing) to keep my young cousins employed.
Still running one club and consulting at two others. (Which I also hate doing.)
And the building we are leasing for the furniture store (which is what I really want to do) has structural problems (for which I had to hire an engineer so solve) which will delay our opening for a while.
Ish happens.
I used to get mad as hell when things didn’t work out or people didn’t work out. Now I just keep the plan loose and pride myself on doing all that I can and finishing my part of the equation.
I got some bangers ready to go in my backpocket for some businesses but damn this recession is keeping me testing and retesting, perfecting and re-perfecting the hustle to bring out the best product I possibly can.
But Yeah ISH Happens damn near everytime I want to do something.
Yeah I hear what you are saying. I just started this little hustle and today was my first sell, went to ship the product and found out shipping was way more than I expected / calculated, basically wiping out my profits.
I am pissed as hell but this was the dry run so now I need to go review and adjust my pricing accordingly.
It’s not easy but I rather be doing something now than thinking about doing it like I used to do these past years.
Yeah I make the same dry runs and make sure I don’t have a whole bunch of inventory. Most of the time I’ll ask for samples and push them as they are free to see if there is a market for it.
Shipping is a big one. In the past down here in the US we had priority mail for 5 bucks any box size so it was golden for me. Then they changed it and started pricing the boxes. That threw me for a loop for a while but I found my way around it.
But you know now without spending a whole bunch of money and you can get the right shipping going for the hustle. Small things turn into big things but they have to be tried first. Glad to hear you’re trying, believe me something will crack.
