Hustle isn’t a job, there isn’t a golden parachute, a 401K, nor a going away party. No one will pat you on the back, throw a party, you won’t have to train your replacement, and you won’t have to wonder what to do with the rest of your life. With all that being said Hustle has to be seen different even when you walk away.

Jobs have a shift, a time clock, a uniform, and a structure. Most people have a job because they don’t want to worry about how they are going to make ends meet. They want to wake up and start their day, eat lunch with coworkers, and wait for the horn to sound and carpool home. Jobs suck the excitement out of your youth, the patience out of your mid life, and your life as you retire. At the end of a job you will have made someone 10000 more times in money than they paid out. You will walk away from your job saying you have contributed to society and try to live off half of the money from your retirement and social security.

Hustle is simply what you make of it and is determined by how much you reap from the time being spent. Hustle is cold and rewarding, lonely and crowded, up and down, and short and sweet. The day you decide to hang it up from your Hustle has to be a great day. The day you voluntarily walk away from a Hustle that works means your life is secure and finally small money is not worth getting. Most Hustlers never get to that point so they Hustle for the rest of their life. Hustle has a bigger upside from a job and primarily it is freedom. Hustle allows you to enjoy your life at that moment, not on a planned vacation. Only you can decide when to quit the game, hopefully it’s in a better position.

  4. Being able to evolve from straight up street level hustle was my thinking behind writing The 5 Levels of a Hustler. There has to be a point where instead of fighting every battle, you hire mercenaries and an army to carry your hustle forward. Great insight here – one that only those of us in the game can appreciate!

Most people never evolve to actually making a business. We still have a mentality of selling bbq on the corner in our mobile trailer. Most people are very satisfied with their hustle making money today and never think about tomorrow.

Since the majority of our examples are tied into regular business it’s hard for the average person to separate Hustle from a 9 to 5. They make the mistake of using the same timetables and the same retirement plans when that is not a real issue. If you set up a company that always makes money and hire other people to execute it you can be 101 and still make money. So like I said retire from a Job but Quit the Game.
