0-10>10-20 Podcast
Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes
Coming from nothing is hard but not knowing anything on top of that damn near makes it impossible. This podcast is me recognizing and informing you that I realize where you are coming from when you start any business. Most information when it comes to business start from the position of you knowing the basics. The problem is most of us don’t even know the basics and often we start from Zero while all instructions start at 10. Tune in and pass it on…. Download directly HERE

Wow this one was a bit longer but I enjoyed the conversations in the mail too. LMBAO@Big Ole Pigeon part!
I agree on one part and that’s people do start off assuming you know basics when in reality you barely know how to talk to vendors. Thanks for the inspiration, sometimes I thought even you were skipping over how hard it is to get over the first hurdle and that’s my mind!
Yeah the pigeon was me feeling myself a bit.
Most of the time we fail to concentrate on the one thing that can get us over the hurdle. In the books they are pointing you towards organizations or the SBA or prayer but we have Hustle. Most of the time you have to just go and do it and adjust on the fly once you’re there. I think most people don’t like to think that same belief to do what others can do is the same belief you need to start. We instead want to make money practical.
Most people who have overcome the odds and their own personal issues are stronger businessmen. They are stronger people overall because of all the hardships they had to go through. This is why people like Puffy, Steve Stout, Jay-z, Reginald Lewis and A.G. Gaston can build things and that’s because they conquered survival and this other part ain’t all that damn hard. So while others are scared to make decisions these kind of people just make them easily because it’s not that serious.
My goal is to point out going through the fire makes you better than most of these cats who only read books. You will not come out as a robot like them you will come out much more agile and once you pick up the book knowledge you will become a DAMN problem!
Very good podcast. Sometimes we have to unlearn so many things that we were taught. Sometimes the more you learn in some cases the more you have to unlearn. That’s where I am…I am Unlearning a whole lotta stuff. We cannot ignore it, which starts with first fixing ourselves and our thought processes. And being able to communicate with others.
I like this quote by Booker T. Washington “Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to success.”
The biggest issue I have with cats is when they are at 0 trying to talk about the 10-20 level. The 0-10 level is the best part of any hustle because you don’t know, the stuff sounds “impractical” to sideline cats but you believe it can work and go for it. The 10-20 and beyond is nothing more than profits on top of profits.
I feel your passion on this because it does upset me to be around cats who can hustle at everything except being an entrepreneur simply because they scared. Hearing these people and their bullsh*t excuses and talk about what don’t work and stuff – hell, staying alive is not practical but I bet every last one of these cats will find a way to survive the day….
@Freedom – Well people just take other people’s ideas on how to make it when you already have the key. The rest of the stuff can be followed by steps but Hustle is harder and is the key ingredient. Most of the time when you start you don’t know what to do so you do what you think is best. That is the best part of business because you adjust on the fly and you figure things out from doing not from reading.
Booker T had it right because I still judge most people on what they built not on what they happened to study.
@Ed – It’s the books brother it’s the books. They got you worried about getting grants and loans when all you have to do is get a small sample and see if it’ll work. The base of any business is just a hunch and some hustle.
Well I took the practical to mean they want me to acknowledge that it’s not guaranteed. DUH! Like I said the only thing in life that is guaranteed is you not making any money if you don’t stick your neck out for it. We got a lot of egg heads and no chickens crossing the road in this game. They take pride in knowing instead of doing. To the point where they think making money is beneath them and it’s stupid to talk about money in the first place. Like you said staying alive is impractical.
Folks just want guarantees and I knew I had to address it before people start the anti-R&G just to let the world know FreeMan isn’t talking about how hard it really is. So what it’s hard, it is for everyone; so what are you going to do about it? Read a Book and shit!
Dang Freeman, nice segment, man!! Dude, have you ever thought about dropping a public access channel into the sauce or something to that effect?? No, seriously, this type of content is absent but seriouly needed. See, i like Tavis Smiley, he’s good, but he don’t dig as deep into the barrel as you(i.e., where did you get your 1st thousand to start your business)see, that type of info is vital, FM!! People need to hear that!! Oh, well, just a thought, lemme get back to these books,yo!! But, well done, my brutha, well done.
Marc I got to Keep it R&G as I ain’t the cat for fame. This is me giving freely of what I know and how I connect the dots. I don’t want to be known for telling as I still have some building of my own to do. So enjoy the angles because I never planned and don’t plan to be doing this forever!
Baby steps are missing and that’s why people can’t jump the hurdle!
…I feel you, my brutha, i feel ya!! It makes perfect sense!! We appreciate you, anyway.
Anybody looking for “practical” should shut up and get back to work on whatever plantation they’re slaving on. I think my father used that phrase a few years ago when I told him I was going to quit my “good job” and start my own business. I didn’t want to disrespect my elder by telling him what a slave-mentality having jackass he is. So I told my uncle (his older brother) about it and he told him what a dumbass he is. I suggest that guy practically get back to picking cotton, where it’s safe.
@Marc – Thanks I appreciate the love man!
@Carl – Practical is just the intelligent replacement for I’m Scared! The Plantation is where most people want to be anyway because someone is taking care of you. Someone else has to worry about making sales and someone else gets to tell you what you deserve.
I think it’s the generation because my own mother wanted me to stop like 10 times saying that’s good enough. I just had to tell her to let me finish. Some people didn’t learn this early enough in life so they see the whole thing as impossible.
I like your posts and this is the first time I listened to a podcast. Honestly, I wish you would get to the point. I stopped listening half way through because you kept qualifying and talking in circles. I was hoping you would share some of these basics you learned.
I’m sorry I’m talking in circles but it’s not the news so I have all the time I want to explain. I think you should listen to other podcasts as they all are different. A lot of what I say is not scripted so you will hear things again as I regroup but hang in there you’ll get used to it. The format is not going to lead to the weather or sports afterwards so like any other time in which someone is saying something you have to listen. If you want to listen it isn’t that long if you’re looking for a quick fix then it can take a while and I understand that.
Sprinkled through the podcasts are the basics but the title of the podcast wasn’t THE BASICS. It was explaining how hard it is to get up from nothing and the reasons why.
It’s not for everyone but for those who want to know I express my angles and for those who want to browse there’s always looking up the basics of money on Google!
I will say Iam glad I found youre site! Very good podcast. This what the books dont tell us.
Welcome EMAN! A lot of this stuff is hidden so it makes getting up harder. We have the hustle if not more hustle than most people up there it’s just that most lack the base to even start.
