Reading time: 1 – 2 minutes

city-of-god2jpgI know you think you know but you probably don’t know how much you are copying off of the streets. Even people who say they know better don’t know how they have digested negative influences. More than slang, more than drinking, more than the occasional curse words many people are unaware of how much they emulate the Streets! DOWNLOAD HERE!

puhlease, they talk about ghetto this and ghetto that but many people wish they had the common sense and survival skills that come out of living in the hood. pop culture is based off of the hood way of life so that’s why i say ppl can talk down about us all they want but the proof is in saggy pants and slang that so called middle and upper class kids insist on emulating. even my white manager who’s at least in his late forties says “naw i’m saying” i’m like wtf?

Yeah, most middle class folks got it bad. I can remember when I was growing up there was a real difference even when I was in High School. Now like you said it’s pop culture and the problem is this ish is deadly. They are mingling with people who really do it and these guys just wanted to wear some clothes.

Really I just wanted to let everyone know they have to purge theirselves of the traits. It’s a losing way of life no matter if it’s popular or not!

yeah well everyone wants to be “down”. looking up the definition of that word first would be a great idea

I listened to your podcast in the car and will have comments later. But that picture of Lil Z had me rolling..that movie is the best boyz in the hood movie, period….

The more people are exposed to something, the more they are likely to copy it. Think about when you walk into a department store during the holidays and they have “Jingle Bell” playing. Soon enough, you’ll start whistling along.

Somewhere along the line, the “hood” became cool and a lot of people starting “whistling along”. What’s sad is that “hood” came from “neighborhood”. When did we take the “neighbor” out? You usually look out for your neighbor. A neighborhood is usually a close knit community.

I always said that the only people who are fascinated with the ghetto ain’t from there. I keep hearing these idiots talking about keeping it real and staying hood. How stupid you gotta be? You get ahead in spite of the hood, not because of the hood. Don’t get me wrong, I believe in reaching into the hood to help. But to hell with living there or trying to act like I am ghetto. All these clowns need to grown the fuck up.

Kinda off topic, but I’m a little disappointed that you watch Real Housewives of Atlanta. I only watch it for research purposes, LOL.

@Ed, me too! I swear I was looking at those Favelas on the way from the Rio airport thinking, I wonder if they filmed City of God there?

@Keish – It’s funny to because so called smart people want to be down with ignorance.

@Ed – Yeah I wanted a picture to impart the craziness of this podcast. I also have the featured video that pretty much sums up what I am trying to get across.

@TrueMan – I agree exposure equals adaptation but c’mon we got intelligent people who verbally hate the ways of the ghetto adopting it and then trying to prove how they aren’t.

Well the people who coined the word HOOD didn’t have too many neighborly people otherwise they would have no reason to change the full word!

@Carl – We are who we are but some of us want to be aligned with real danger and real ignorance. It’s like a badge of honor which makes anyone who lived in it wonder what the hell is wrong with them. I look at people and say why do you want to be so tough when no one really cares. What is it to gain by emulating a losing way.

Don’t be disappointed. I use Real Housewives as my free tour of Atlanta. Now that I know that’s how you cats get down over there I’m prepared to start my own clothing line called Free by FreeMan! LMBAO j/k hey I find the show interesting. Everything isn’t always serious with me sometimes I even enjoy watching shows that blow up small shit and make it a whole hour!

I do not watch TV but I happen to see a glimpse of Shark Tank and laughed also. I’m actually a guy who deal with real Venture Capital firms and I thought to myself how so many people just want to be on TV and be put on.

As you stated, if an investor want more than 50% of your business, that means they like your ideal but they don’t like you. Why would anybody sell that @55hole any part of their company?

Another thing is this – I’m not that impressed with 100K or 200K or even 1M from some stranger investor because I rather get me and my people put up the mortgage at those rates. No one shouldn’t even be dealing with these kind of characters unless they need something like 5M or more..

Also, I agree with you 100% about the 25 and older crowd – cats need to grow up, for real. People got mad at me when I said at the age of 30 either you got your ish together or you don’t. And when I approach 40, it’s time to count the straws against cats who thought we was competing growing up. I don’t understand how someone over 25 can still be on silly ish and I got social networking friends at 40 acting like little HS kids…

@Ed – Shark Tank is a great hustle but it just let’s you know that people will make stupid deals on TV. I understand people need help but help doesn’t mean you own controlling percentage in my company. People have great ideas but instead of sitting there bubbling for a year and stacking chips they come out and throw ideas at people with means. So the cat who is the VC owns like 40 companies getting rich off of someone else’s sweat, imagination and hustle! Wow I can’t believe that’s a TV show.

People know they don’t measure up so they stay in the mentality of where they are doing well. So compared to a 21 year old you have a better car and a better place and are more mature. Compared to someone your age you are a sucker and that’s why they remain the realm of video games and gossip. It’s hard to face the truth and see that you haven’t been on your job when it comes to building!

I was just listening to this again laughing my ass off at the “Steve Harvey zoot suit, lookin like Cab Calloway” comment!

  11. FreeMan wrote:

Man if you’re ever in Vegas you’ll see the Midwest Cats in these suits. Look like the beginning of Malcolm X with Spike Lee and Denzel strutting through Boston.

  12. Carl wrote:

No, that’s why it’s so funny to me! I’ve seen it up close in Indianapolis and Detroit. Man I’ve seen cats running around in 13-button plaid suits with a matching derby and gators. I remember thinking at the time, why in the hell would a grown man wear some clown suit like that?

  13. FreeMan wrote:

C’mon Carl I know you got one and are dancing to RKelly step in the name of love at throwback night. LOL I laugh because I think you have to have some balls to even put that on. Most of the time those cats are cool people because they literally came to party!

Yeah man clubs do get shot up. Especially when some idiot is trying to be Mr. tough guy not knowing the dude they doggin is strapped up like Rambo I went to a club in San B that was featuring Gucci Mane and it got shot up bad. The way that the parking was set up was a trap so dude just starts blasting and pops four people.

So you been hustling since you were young huh? Did you ever work when you were a teen?

I’ve been actively trying to make money since I was 8 years old in one way or another. I had a burger job when I was a teen..

No shame in my game I wanted to make money and I didn’t care what I had to do to get it.

I knew it wasn’t in the streets because everyone I knew went to jail or was shot. Some cats need to be next to danger to feel like they accomplished something but I knew it wasn’t part of the chip game.
