Bastard from A Basket – You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make it drink but, sometimes they drink it and they try to stop you from drinking.
.
When you put people on to your Hustle most will be appreciative but every once in a while you get the Bastard from a Basket situation. Hustle is volatile so competition from outside is expected but sometimes it’s sitting there brewing from within your small circle. When your Hustle progresses it’s natural to want to put people on whether its your family, friends, or even just a kid you see who would appreciate it. The problem comes when they think they are the reason the Hustle exists, and once that happens they see you as something they have to overcome.
.
A Deal is a deal when you agree to it, it’s up to you to do your homework and find out if it’s fair. I know people who have been put on when they had nothing, no hustle, no money, no self esteem. were built up to what they are today and in the end they feel like they are not getting a fair shake. They try to sabotage the Hustle you brought them to or feel that they will go off and start their own. The Bastard doesn’t see there was more you gave to them besides the real money. The ideas and the innovation comes from the table you set not from their own Hustle. Understand Hustle breeds this person wanting to be their own Hustler, and control of all the money they produce. Now if you took advantage of them when you put them on you shouldn’t be surprised but there is a way that most Hustlers do it that will make you understand that they want to be their own Hustler and are appreciative of what you gave them.
.
Every once in a while, and probably more often the more money on the table; you will come upon the Bastard from a Basket! They will start their Hustle looking to take everything from you, every customer, every connection, everything you built. If they are still with you they will try to skim off the top. This Bastard will reach out to everyone you put them onto and let them know they were the reason why the Hustle delivered. Initially this is something to worry about but in the end they are not a threat. If your Hustle is strong it cannot be duplicated, their Hustle is generic and will fail in due time. Hustle is unique to the Hustler executing it. While the Bastard can soak up the game he is not the source of the Hustle.
.
Bottom Line: Someone wanting to do for self and out from under you is expected. Just expect that they might take from you in order to build their own!

lol… this kinda reminds me of when i wanted to sell pocketbooks and i wanted my cousin to do it with me cuz she’s more of a people person. long story short, she wanted to do something else like dinners or whatever but when she saw my pocketbooks, she wanted to run over new york with me when i went back but by then i didn’t want to work with her cuz i tried to tell her over and over how it was a good hustle. last year i heard she was selling pocketbooks. lol
You’re correct the problem is when someone thinks that the person that put them on is their enemy now and that they have to somehow overcome them, if in reality the ghost is in their head. That is mind trap the Hustler have to avoid.
I know I appreciate all the Hustlers out here putting in the work and sharing their knowledge with me and the world.
Many don’t know because they haven’t been taught and to try to stop someone else from drinking after they’ve been put on to the game is a no-no and will get a straight elbow to the throat, if somebody tries to stop me from drinking.
It stinks when you have someone that is/was in your close circle that betrays you it is sad because they don’t understand how there is plenty of money out here for us all. And why break unless you have too from what is good. Usually it is a ego thing or some misconceived emotion that poisen the business deal.
But the truth of the matter remains that if we are good at our Hustle no one can duplicate it because in the end no one is that person but them, nor have that passion put in them.
Again it is plenty of money out here for all us and if God gives us an idea NO BASTARD FROM A BASKET can duplicate because the patent is protected!
@Keish – Yeah you’ll always get people who want to do your Hustle after you prove that it makes money. Everyone thinks they can do your Hustle better than you and that’s the nature of the game. I just laugh when they go out there and see that it’s more than just the product.
@Freedom – Look it’s natural to think people are making more than you off your Hustle. So it’s natural for someone to get up and start their own once they realize they can do 1/10th of the work and make the same money. So don’t get me wrong I’m not mad at them for starting their own but the problem comes when they try to destroy what you built.
Now when I left another company to start my own they were very mean and tried to get me in trouble with the government. So I came back at them and took like 70% of their business but I already had my own clients separate from them. Like I said if you treated them bad don’t get mad when they come back to get you.
Really most people who know how to make money don’t get mad they just move on!
P.O.O.R. is an acronym for Passing Over Opportunities Regularly. Selah
@Attorneymom – WELCOME! POOR doesn’t need an acronym the word by itself lets people know they don’t want anything to do with it. Also, please don’t post any Preacher Youtube links on this website. If you can’t explain it yourself then just don’t say it at all.
What’s up Freeman!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for sending those emails to let me know about your new hangout. I’m looking forward to some real insightful stuff from you my friend. BTW…I listened to your podcast…good stuff. Keep it coming
Peace…
@Roschelle – Thanks for checking me out! Thanks especially for checking out the podcasts and do me a favor pass it on. I’m only one month into the R&G so we got a lot of ground to cover!
Well, can I quote him. He said, “Your friends will hurt you, but your family will finish you off.”
@FreeMan, I can explain myself quite well. Thank you very much.
@Attorneymom – I don’t agree with the pastor you are quoting but if you believe it who am I to go against it. People like to regurgitate stupid sayings without fully thinking them through. If your friends hurt you but your family finishes you off then why don’t you work on your family so the strangers can never be more important than your blood!
I don’t know where this is coming from but I am sure as an attorney you can explain yourself. I am not challenging your intelligence as much as I am making a statement. I think you need to fall back and just comment on the blog because realistically I don’t know who you are to even attempt to say something personal about you!
I’m usually kind of mean when I give advice.
I almost discourage most people.
But behind the scenes I’ll let people know where to find a brotha’ so that they develop the social skills on their own from their own true perspective.
A lot of people get mad and think that I made them fail.
It is only years later when someone tells them that it was I who set up their “accidental” meeting with a mentor.
Or that I sent business their way.
Or that I made a call that put someone in place to help them with a problem.
When thy ask way I went about it in this way – I explain that some lessons can’t be taught – only learned.
The important thing for me isn’t that they respect me,
the important thing is that they respect themselves and their own abilities.
Hopefully, they’ll be able to help someone else without being worried about taking credit.
@UBJ – In the meantime keep on the BPvest huh? LOL! I’m just saying it’s natural to want to be your own man but sometimes people forget that you showed them everything and they come back thinking you slighted them. You have a old wise man way of going about life. I really think you need to keep on the BPVest cuz someone might not ever learn the lesson.
I’m not saying that it is the best way – only that I’d rather be surrounded by people who could lead if something happened to me instead of followers who would be lost without me.
But yeah… some people get mad and think that everyone is obligated to help them in the way they believe help should be given.
Sometimes people can’t grasp the greater lesson and only focus on the immediate reward (which is often quickly lost).
BPV? Nah man… they got nice looking waist length coats that can stop most small caliber bullets.
I don’t want to look like Fiddy.
I agree it’s just the litmus test for leaders has a hell of a failure rate. Most cats you meet who you think are strong enough never really are. They read, they recite but they don’t really understand!
Shit you don’t have to tell me about people wanting you to help in the way they want. I got cats mad at me when I tried to teach them how to do International Trade. I told them the books to buy and to take the test and they said I didn’t spend my time training them. I felt it’s the same books I read and I didn’t know shit so why do I have to hold your hand.
I might have to get me one of those waist length coats then because people like to blame their lack of prosperity on me nowadays too!
It’s greed and short vision, people can not see the big picture because of it and miss out on the real money.
I agree with you. What makes it funny is if they would wait a year or two longer they can start their own and almost guarantee a certain amount of profit.
How long do you spend a day coming up with stuff like this?
I don’t spend as long as you think! Probably 5 minutes to write out what I’m thinking about. Glad you came through and please next time no advertising.
