Hustle Code – The discipline to stay two steps ahead of your Hustle.
Don’t allow yourself to get attached to anything you are not willing to walk away from in 30 seconds flat. As DeNiro talks about the discipline it takes to pull scores in Heat, the Hustler must maintain this code also. Money moves and you have to move with it. Now if you don’t parlay your Hustle it is bound to dry up either through competition or just the fickle way of Hustle disappearing altogether.
You must be as aggressive in finding the next Hustle as you are in cultivating your current Hustle. You have to think two steps ahead of your current situation and see where either this Hustle is going to end or where it could possibly go. Most Suckers only think about today and how they can make money today. The Step 1 Hustler on the corner stays on that corner year after year because he knows he can always make money that way.
You ever wonder why the Ice Cream man comes around every summer consistently. He knows he can make money selling ice cream because the sun is hot. With a tune that probably comes from some Old Irish Potato famine spiritual all the kids come running chasing him down the block to buy a Big Stick! Now if he stuck to the Code he would figure out a way to put those streets on lock. Maybe hire other people to drive other vans, or maybe open a 31 flavors in the neighborhood so he doesn’t have to drive all day. Maybe come up with his own flavor of ice cream and make a name for himself. Maybe franchise his ice cream trucks like Mr. Freeze.
Bottom Line: Hustle by it’s nature grows so you have to think two steps ahead aka enterprising so you can capitalize.

Heat is the perfect example of this! That film showed what to Do and what NOT to do in the hustle game.
Heat was good to show you when vengence goes to far and when greed kicks in. Deniro couldn’t pass up that last score even though they were one man down. He couldn’t end right by taking the girl to New Zealand and forgetting about Wayne Grow! LOL, it’s one of my favorite movies.
Hustle wise I wanted to tie in the discipline these cats had. The precision and the fact that if something smelled funny they up and left. I think people have to be honest with themselves about business if it don’t make dollars it don’t make sense. I just wanted to point out that why you have 1 hustle you should be developing 3 more instead of thinking that 1 will be the end all. I have started probably 20 companies and only 5 are left standing.
Good post.
@Clnmike – Wassup man haven’t seen you for a while. Thanks for falling through.
